Today I got the privilege to minister to a young lady at work. While talking to her I found out that about 10 years ago she sat thru someone talking to her about Christ, after they were done talking to her they said there you are saved. So after some more talking she said that a few times over the past few years she has asked Jesus into her heart and forgiveness for her sins. She has not and was not following her faith at the time of our talk. Her reasoning for not was two fold. #1 She did not get along with her mother in law and never asked for her forgiveness and they never made up before she died. #2 She said that she didn’t feel worthy.
# 2 first- No brianer this one was easy to answer because the bible is very specific the bible tells us that no man is worthy. So we talked about that one and moved on.
# 1 She thought that not making up with her mother in law kept her out of heaven. As she was tearing up I was praying on the inside that God give me the right words.
We talked about that she is worthy of receiving Gods free gift with out reservation or shame. But it breaks my heart that this is the message that people are getting. A simple mis-communication from somewhere she or someone else would miss the free gift of eternal life. I believe the church needs to do a better job equipping our congregations on witnessing and telling them about the right things to say.
But praise God she is on the road of rededication and a new life in Christ. Pray that the Lord blesses her and her husband in thier journey together.
